Freedom Writers display: opening September 5th

The library will feature a Freedom Writers display showcasing the books and movie inspired by educator Erin Gruwell’s work with inner-city high school students in Los Angeles. Erin Gruwell, an internationally known author and educator adopted innovative teaching methods for a Los Angeles high school and became the basis of a national bestseller and inspired the movie, “The Freedom Writers Diary” starring Hillary Swank. Gruwell will be the keynote speaker for Homecoming 2013. The display will run September 5 through Homecoming Weekend.
